When they met again a few months later, Amrit Sagar told Manoj that he had a story written in 1973 by his father, Motilal Sagar. It is based on the true and traumatic events of 6 prisoners in the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971.

Both Amrit and Piyush worked hard and penned the entire script. The name of the film was – ‘1971’. After that the selection of artists started. Manoj Bajpayee and Piyush Mishra were there.
