Fact Check – Britain’s new PM Rishi Sunak do not eat  beef

In this tweet, Rishi Sunak had told that after becoming the Prime Minister, he will encourage farmers who produce beef and lamb. Now people are questioning by sharing his old post that on one hand he is seen worshiping cow and on the other hand he is talking about promoting Britain’s beef industry. On the other hand some people are praising him saying that he said that people left the choice of food to their freedom.

Does Rishi Sunak Eat Beef ?

Rishi Sunak is a deeply religious Hindu who doesn’t eat beef and keeps a Ganesha idol on his desk.

On October 24, Rishi Sunak, an MP in the United Kingdom, became the leader of the conservative party and the country’s next Prime Minister. With his appointment to the chair, he became the first MP with Indian roots to become the Prime Minister of the UK.

Indian newspaper Business Standard

in an interview with the Indian newspaper Business Standard in 2015, Rishi Sunak made it clear that he doesn’t eat beef because of his religion. During the interview, he also set the record straight about his choice of ethnicity on the census. He said, “On the census, I check the box that says “British Indian.”

We have a place for that. I was born and raised in the UK, and this is my home and country. However, my religious and cultural background is Indian, and so is my wife. I don’t hide the fact that I am a Hindu.” Sunak made it clear in just a few sentences that he was Hindu by religion and British Indian by Rishi Sunak is religious

Sunak told Politico

Sunak told politico in an interview that he keeps a small statue of Bhagwan Ganesha on his desk. He even left the idol on the desk for Boris Johnson, who was Prime Minister at the time and was sick and staying in Sunak’s office. He told Sunak, “Lord Ganesh is still sitting on my desk at No. 11 Downing Street.”

“When the PM was sick, my wife was adamant that we leave it there. He used my office in No. 11 because he lives above, and it was easy for him to come up and down this walled-off area. So, he was using my office in No. 11, and I moved all my things out. But Akshata insisted that we leave his stuff there so we could keep an eye on him as well.

he is a practicing Hindu

He said that because he is a practicing Hindu, he doesn’t eat beef, and that “it has never been a problem.” Sunak’s grandparents moved from Punjab, India, to East Africa in the early 1900s and then to Britain in the 1960s. This is an interesting fact.

Since then, he has been attacked for being Hindu, and people have tried to deny his religious identity and Hindu roots. Sunak was made fun of because he did Gau Puja when he didn’t become Prime Minister in September of this year.

Will promote local meat industry: British PM

In the midst of this ongoing debate on social media, it is important to know what Rishi Sunak had said that day. On the issue of beef, Sunak had clarified his stand on 30 July when he was campaigning for the post of Prime Minister. During this, in a tweet, he had told that if he is elected the PM of Britain, he will promote the local meat industry. Will promote farmers producing beef and lamb.

Committed to helping beef and sheep farmers

Sunak also shared the interview given to The Telegraph with this tweet. Sunak then promised that he would stop selling farmers’ land. He will not allow arable land in Britain to be reduced. In an interview with The Telegraph, Rishi Sunak had said – Being a rural MP, I understand how important it is to protect the natural environment. I will always stand with the farmers. Hundreds of farmers in my area raise animals for beef and sheep meat and I am committed to helping them.

People have their own choice of food: Sunak

During this, Rishi Sunak had further said that people’s choice of food is their own. Special care will be taken of the cattle rearers in my government. I will make such reforms in the field of agriculture which would not have happened in the last 50 years. We have been told how important domestic food production is for a country.

The report claimed that Sunak, a believer of Hinduism, himself does not eat beef. But will campaign to buy ‘local food’ across the country. He said he would also hold an annual ‘Food Safety Summit’ on Downing Street. During this, the benefits of eating local meat will be told.
