Mumbai: Veteran music composer and singer Bappi Lahiri has passed away. At the age of 69, he breathed his last at around 11 pm at Criti Care Hospital in Mumbai. Let us tell you that the real name of Bappi Lahiri was Alokesh Lahiri who was born on 27 November 1952 in Jalpaiguri, West Bengal.
He started playing the tabla at the age of 3 and then made his debut in the Bengali film Dadu (1972). Bappi Lahiri gave his first music in the Hindi film Nanha Shikari (1973). At the same time, Tahir Hussain’s Hindi film Zakhmi (1975) gave him a different identity. Although in the 80s, he gave many memorable songs to Bollywood, while Bappi Lahiri was the only one who introduced Bollywood to ‘Disco Dance’.
Let us tell you that Bappiv Lahiri was born on 27 November 1952 in Jalpaiguri, West Bengal. He was last seen on screen with Salman Khan on the reality show Bigg Boss 15, where he had come to promote his grandson Swastik’s new song ‘Bachha Party’.

He also got infected with Corona last year. Then he was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Juhu. He had recovered from Corona in a few days.
Bappi Lahiri gave many hit songs to Bollywood. He is considered to be the originator of disco beats and pop music in India. Songs like I Am A Disco Dancer, Yaar Bina Chain Kahan Re, Tamma- Tamma are his famous songs. Known
for wearing thick gold chains and glasses, the singer-composer sang in several films in the 70-80s which were huge hits. These films include ‘Chalte Chalte’, ‘Disco Dancer’ and ‘Sharaabi’. His last Bollywood song was ‘Bhankas’ for the 2020 film ‘Baaghi 3’.
Bappi da will not be cremated today
According to sources, Bappi Lahiri will not be cremated today. Bappi da’s sons are in America, whose arrival will be awaited. It is being told that his sons will come to Mumbai by 2 o’clock late in the night. After which Bappi Lahiri will be cremated tomorrow at the Hindu cremation ground near Pawan Hans.
